This month, we’re proud to celebrate Victoria Onaca as our Athlete of the Month at CrossFit Eclipse!
We’ve loved watching all the hard work you’ve been putting in – all while having all your adorable kids in tow! Talk about one strong momma setting a great example that you can still lead a healthy and active lifestyle, even when your kids are in that toddler stage!
One of her proud accomplishments doing CrossFit?
Getting a 200# deadlift!! I used to think there was NO way I could lift anything over my own bodyweight haha. Also being able to do things like toes to bar or dubs after having babies – that is SO huge and just a testament to how crossfit and our coaches care for and don’t discount anyone because of a limitation, and have worked with me to make sure I am modifying correctly for pregnancy + postpartum. Side plug: highly recommend doing crossfit while pregnant if it works for you!!
Get to Know Victoria
Do you have a nickname or something people tend to call you around the gym?
My buddies call me Vic! ‘Sporty Tori’ is my super strong alter-ego who lives in my head and who I channel on heavy lifts
Outside of CrossFit, what are some of your favorite hobbies, talents, or skills?
I love to sew, recreate complicated foreign meals, and rearrange all of the furniture while Ronen is at work, ha! I also really like making up songs for scripture memory and stories for my kids!
How did you find CrossFit Eclipse, and what led you to join?
Ronen and I have been doing CrossFit together since before we were married, so when we moved to south Tulsa in 2021, we looked up which box was closest to our house – and Eclipse has become way more than just ‘our CrossFit gym’ – its where we have some of our sweetest community!
What keeps you coming back to the gym?
In the past 6 years I’ve been pregnant or recovering from delivery or nursing a baby basically the entire time ha-ha – so I have had a lot of opportunities to say that I am ‘done’ with CrossFit and that it just doesn’t fit this season of life as a mom with 3 littles. Especially in the past year, making it a priority to come to the gym whether I have one or all 3 of my kids with me has been super life giving. Having adult conversations with other people at the gym who care about each other and want everyone to succeed and excel in trying new things keeps me consistent as a <3 nooner <3. I also love that my kids see Ronen and I choosing to prioritize doing the hard thing by working out – and doing it together – I think it shows them the joy of doing what we love with the people that we love. Also the fact that everyone is SO KIND to my kids warms my heart and blesses me big time. Lastly…I don’t mind having biceps now hahahah its kind of a *flex*
Is there a motto, phrase, or piece of advice you try to live by, either inside or outside the gym?
“No job too big, no pup too small!” and “Work smarter, not harder.”
What kind of music gets you pumped up during a workout?
The 2010s club mix is a throwback to college for me so def those songs.
Any fun facts or something most people at the gym might not know about you?
When I was little, I lived in Japan and was a child model. There’s a music video on YouTube with me in it as an angel coming to save a cute lil Japanese boy. My biggest flex!
