April Athlete of the Month- Randy Stuehm

Athlete of the Month:

1. What is your nickname?  None stuck but a dear friend/producer calls me Dr.

2. What are your favorite hobbies, talents, skills outside of CrossFit?  Coffee. Puzzles over 2000 pieces, Fixing stuff. Traveling, Coffee.

3. How did you find/get to CrossFit Eclipse?  Eric Newman invited me.  “I think you’d like it” he said.

4. What motto or phrase do you live by?  Yesterday is a canceled check. Tomorrow is a promissory note.  Today is cash, spend it wisely.

5. What is your favorite music to listen to while WODing?  There is not enough virtual paper to answer this.  Punk, Post punk. New Wave. Alternatives 80’s & 90’s. Classical.  Basically the stuff you never hear in the gym.

6. What is your favorite WOD?  The one I can finish in the allotted time.  No seriously.

7. What is your favorite cheat Food(s)?  Salted caramel milkshake.  PopTarts.

8. What is one thing you have done at CFE that you never thought you would do?  OVERHEAD SQUATS

9. What motivates you through your CrossFit journey?   Knowing that every time I show up I am improving myself, regardless of the workout, regardless of how great or poorly I did prior.

10. What results have you seen so far in coming to CFE?  Never-ever thought I’d be able to put over 200lbs on my shoulders and do anything but collapse.  My wife thinks I’m svelte.

11. Do you have any special or successful CrossFit Eclipse memories/moments?  I was a newbie and attending 6:30 classes with Nate.  He inadvertently called me Rodney.  I said “Rodney is the strong guy over there, I’m Randy”.

      at which Nate replied without hesitation, “You’re strong Randy.”   It was kinda prophetic.

12. What sort of life changes have you experienced because of CrossFit that you didn’t expect?  I wake up and function throughout the day without pain.  I have more mobility now than I did in my 30’s.   I can play with my grandson on

      his level. You can’t put a price on that.

13. What advice would you give to a newbie or someone just joining CrossFit Eclipse?  Do what you can for at least 4 months.  Follow the instructors lead, it will work, you will see results.  

14. Current training Goals/PRs?  Double unders are on the horizon.  I do muscle ups in my dreams though.

15. If you could create a WOD and name it for yourself, what would it be?  The espresso martini.  2 shots rower. 1 shot box jumps. 1 shot burpee’s. 1/2 shot deadlifts. 1/2 shot good music.
