When did you first start CrossFitting?
March 30th of 2017.
Tell us about your sports & fitness background.
I was active growing up and played Volleyball through college. I currently run Marathons and Ultras
How did you first get into CrossFit? How did it go?
Myself and two of my friends, Jody and Gillian, decided to join together in an effort to increase our fitness together. I was a bit hesitant because weight lifting and squats are not my idea of a good time. The three of us did a free class together. There were rope climbs and I felt like I may not make it through, but we did and I was hooked
What sort of changes have you seen in your body, health, and fitness since starting CrossFit?
It has helped a ton with my endurance on my runs and my running form has improved because my core and legs are stronger. It also encourages me to eat better because no one wants to be the person who vomits. Plus the better fuel you have in you, the better you perform in the workouts.
What impact has CrossFit had on your life?
It has given me a new fitness outlet besides running. I have always preferred to workout alone because i was afraid of feeling judged but at Crossfit Eclipse i feel like i have been welcomed into a big family. No one is there to judge you, everyone is there to encourage one another and push you to do better.
What is your advice for people getting started or thinking about starting CrossFit?
Try it out! I was for sure skeptical at first because the last thing i wanted to do as a runner is lift weights because I didnt want to become “bulky”. However Crossfit has helped my running immensely and I am not getting bulky just stronger. Also give it sometime before you make a judgement if you should stick with it or not. Everyone is going to hit a low point at first but if you are like me you’ll have one workout that just brings out something in you that makes you strive for more.
What are your hobbies, interests, and other talents outside of CrossFit?
I enjoy exploring with my 2 dogs, watching movies, hanging out with my family, reading, and running.
